Actor Matteo Guidicelli dismissed Monday speculations that the driver who crashed into his family's restaurant was drunk or "high," saying the person was "innocent."

Guidicelli made the statements in a video on his Facebook page, sharing an update on the incident that occurred Sunday afternoon at Da Gianni Cucina Italiana in Muntinlupa City.

In the video, Guidicelli gave a walk-through at the site of the incident while revealing that he already spoken to the driver.

"People would ask me online if she was drunk, if she was high or whatever, no," Guidicelli said.

"She's a very innocent, beautiful lady that just panicked, blacked out and pressed on the gas instead of the brakes," he said.

Guidicelli reminded the public that what happened "can happen to anybody out there – young, old, male, female."

"So I think the lesson here is always be aware. Watch your surroundings and be careful all the time because this can happen anywhere," he said.

Guidicelli reiterated that no guests were hurt in the incident, while two staff members who were "hit" were taken to the hospital for medical checks.

Opened in 2018, Da Gianni Cucina Italiana was named in honor of Guidicelli's late grandfather, who hailed from northern Italy.
