Rising star Calix Esguerra is all set to represent the Philippines at the Mister Teenager of the Universe pageant happening this year.
In an exclusive interview with PUSH ABS-CBN, the young heartthrob opens up about how he’s gearing up for the international stage.
“Pinaka-pinaka preparation ko is syempre ‘yung katawan ko, ‘yung physique ko po. And also, pangalawa ‘yung communication skills ko po. And wardrobe, syempre. ‘Yung mga paghahandaan namin ‘yung susuotin ko,” he shared.
He also said that everything should be grand, as he’s representing the Philippines.
“Dapat, syempre, dapat pasabog yan. Dahil Philippines na yung ire-represent. Syempre, rampa din. Dapat may something unique naman ako ngayon. Dapat bago na yung gagawin ko,” he added.
He also revealed how he’s training and preparing to achieve his ideal physique.
“Sa akin, ginagawa ko kasi, lagi akong naggy-gym 5 times a week. So ayun, dapat, siyempre unang-una dyan, dapat complete ‘yung sleep mo, which is dapat 8 hours of sleep ka. And also dapat, nahi-hit mo ‘yung protein intake mo. And also, ‘yung exercise mo sa gym, dapat proper siya. Dapat ‘yung tatlong ‘yun, dapat hindi makawala ‘yun para makachieve mo ‘yung gusto mong physique, which is ‘yung dream physique mo,” Calix shared.
He also talked about how he’s gained confidence in modeling. “Eto kasi yung passion ko talaga. So parang kapag ginagawa ko ito, nag-e-enjoy lang ako. So parang kapag mag-pose ako, parang alam mo yung ine-enjoy lang,” the model-actor mentioned.

“Bata pa lang ako, gusto ko nang maging artist talaga, artista. And maging model. So, ‘yun. Dati kasi nung bata kasi ako, nag-model-model ako. Parang sa mga damit, minomodel-model ko. Sabi nila, oh model-model ko dyan, hindi mo bagay. Nung tinry ko na, ito na, nung ginagawa ko na nga siya. Ang saya pala, sabi ko, ito pa rin ‘yung passion ko,” he noted.
Despite being relatively new to the male pageant scene, Calix expressed his gratitude for the support he has been receiving from netizens.
“Siyempre po sa’kin nakikipag-interact po ako (sa fans) and hindi ko naman din po in-expect na ganoon pala karaming supporters ‘yung makukuha ko nung nag-Misters of Filipinas po ako. And sobrang grateful ko po talaga,” he said.
