Before their engagement, the couple shared highlights of their Japan trip, where Toby tried snowboarding for the first time.
“First time snowboarding and I think I’m addicted. Time to plan our return trip! That @mountainhardwear.ph snowboard jacket kept me so warm, felt like I was a little burrito #opm #snowboarding #niseko,” Toby shared.
Lauren and Toby have been together for more than eight years. In a previous interview with PEP, Lauren said they had discussed marriage after four years of dating but weren’t ready at the time.
“We’re young and we like going out on dates and [being] together and being in love. When the time comes for us to get married and settle down, we will do it,” Lauren said.
She also shared that she had always wanted to marry Toby, but the pandemic delayed their plans: “Alam niya iyan, gusto ko siyang pakasalan. It’s not a secret, we talk about it, and that’s our plan talaga, but there’s a right time to do it.”
She went on: "But now that we’re in a middle of the pandemic, parang it’s not really our priority to be married. We act like a married couple, but hindi pa namin ginagawang official talaga. Kapag puwede nang mag-party, kapag puwede nang maraming tao. Yun kasi ang gusto naming wedding. So we’re willing to wait naman for that to happen.”
The couple frequently shares glimpses of their relationship online, showing their love and support for each other.
“Had a shitty week last week so @jumpingchicken made sure we started this week right. He took me to my happy places 🩷 Rode around Poblacion, got coffee and pastries at @goodshtcoffee and ended the funsies by buying tuyo sa palengke. Gotta love a man who knows how and where to bring you when you’re feeling down 🥹,” Lauren shared in a post.
Toby also shared a heartfelt message during Lauren's birthday: “Happiest birthday to the best partner in the world! I’m always gonna be here beside you, no matter what! Thank you for taking care of me and the babies always!! Love you so much ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️.”
Toby is the brother of Dani Barretto’s husband Xavi Panlilio and Michelle Gumabao’s husband, athlete Aldo Panlilio.
