Ogie Diaz, Katherine Luna, McCoy De Leon, and many more have come to the defense of Kapamilya actor Coco Martin against Rod Navarro Jr.. This comes after Rod claimed that he wasn’t treated kindly by Coco and the crew of FPJ’s Batang Quiapo during his stint there.
“Hindi ka totoo. Maling-mali kwento mo. Di maganda pananalita mo kaya di ako tumanggap ng tulong mula sa'yo, dahil ang sabi mo isang pagkakamali ko lang eh tanggal ako at kapag ‘di ko napalago eh wag na tayo mag-uusap. May mura pa na kasama ang banta,” Rod said in a Facebook post.
In defense of Coco, Ogie shared some screenshots of Rod’s messages to him asking for an interview so he could thank the Kapamilya actor after his stint on Batang Quiapo.
“Since binanggit mo ang pangalan ko, Rod Navarro Jr. , eh meron lang akong gustong itanong sa yo. Paano kang minura at minaltrato sa set ng 'Batang Quiapo' kung nag-message ka sa akin dahil gusto mong magpainterbyu para makapagpasalamat kay Coco sa kabutihan nito sa yo?” Ogie wrote.
The veteran talent manager then shared how Coco didn’t even know Rod personally but still gave him a chance and even offered him some capital to start his business, which Ogie shared that Rod never took.
“Ikaw ang tinutulungan nung tao kahit di ka kaanu-ano. Sana, na-appreciate mo man lang yung gesture nung tao sa yo. Binigyan ka ng exposure at hindi naman basta extra lang. Namatay ang character ni Irma Adlawan, natural, mawawala din ang character mo,” Ogie expressed. Rod played Dindo, underling to Irma's Olga character.
Katherine, who has been one of the people that Coco helped get back up on her feet, called out Rod in her Facebook post. She expressed how helpful the Kapamilya actor has been to them, giving them a window of opportunity to have a fresh start.
“Siya yung nagbukas ng bintana noong mga panahon na walang pintuan na gustong magbukas para sa'yo. Yun man lang sana maalala mo pero bakit parang nakalimutan mo agad yung magandang BAGAY na ginawa sa'yo nun tao?” Katherine wrote.
Meanwhile, McCoy De Leon, who played the role of David in the hit action-drama series, also stood by the Kapamilya actor. He narrated how hard but worth it was working on Batang Quiapo as it gave him opportunities after his character died in the series.
“Binigyan lang tayo ng oportunidad, paghirapan natin, pagsikapin kasi sa huli tayo na yun.
Nakakalungkot lang isipin na tumulong ka na, sa huli ikaw pa ang magiging masama.
Kuya, sana wag ka madadala tumulong lalo na sa mga baguhan at beteranong artista. Nandito ako palagi para sa'yo,” McCoy shared.
John Medina, who has been working with Coco on all of his projects, maintained how good and understanding the Kapamilya actor truly is even off-camera.
“Hindi alam ng karamihan kung gaano ka matulungin, kasi hindi naman lahat umaabot sa social media. Hindi ingay o palakpak ang dahilan kung bakit ka tumutulong. Tumutulong ka dahil alam mo ang pakiramdam ng maghirap, magsumikap, at lumaban nang mag-isa at patas. Alam mo kung paano magsimula sa wala — kaya ngayon, lahat ng meron ka, gusto mo din e share sa iba lalo na sa mga taong nagsusumikap at gustong umahon,” he wrote.
Apart from the celebrities, several people behind the cameras went out of their way to defend and show the true character of Coco as well. They assured everyone that Coco has been helpful and has been good to everyone, from actors to crew to the public.
Rod has yet to make a statement as of this writing.
