Filipino-American content creator Bretman Rock didn't hold back calling out the "nepo babies" of corrupt officials recently exposed on social media.
In a video posted on his Instagram Stories, Bretman first discussed the debate over the use of the words "language" and "dialect," before shifting his focus to what he believes are more pressing issues in the Philippines.
"There [are] bigger fishes to mother f***in fry especially in the Philippines right now, like this mother f***in' nepo babies using people's money to buy and fund their lavish lifestyle and some of their questionable ugly fashion choices," he remarked.
He then doubled down on his criticism of their spending habits and style. "I saw this video the other day... where she was like, 'They really need to invest on a stylist before they invest on this mother f***in fashion stuff...' I agree I will be mad too. If I was funding these mother f***in nepo babies' life and they're buying ugly things. I would be mad," he pointed out.
Various celebrities recently voiced out their frustrations via social media amid the issues of corruption related to flood control projects.
On August 11 during a press conference, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. questioned why only 15 contractors managed to corner 20 percent of nearly 10,000 flood projects since 2022, noting that more than half failed to provide details on what structures were being built. He also pointed out suspiciously uniform project costs despite varying locations and terrain, and the concentration of projects in areas not considered highly flood prone.
On August 19, The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) admitted there were "ghost" flood control projects and vowed to investigate them.
Malacañang announced on August 27 that the president has ordered lifestyle checks on all government officials, starting with those in the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).
"Ipinag-utos ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. ang pagkakaroon ng lifestyle check sa lahat ng mga opisyal sa gitna ng imbestigasyon patungkol sa maanomalyang flood control projects," Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said.
