After being revealed as the cover models of new beauty magazine Allure Philippines’ maiden issue, Heart Evangelista and Bretman Rock made everybody’s heads turn during the launch event held last April 30 at the Conservatory of the Manila Peninsula in Makati City. During the event, Bretman shared his unforgettable first encounter with Heart in Europe a few years ago.

“Heart and I actually met in Paris Fashion Week a few years back. She saved the day because my seat was taken and I was too shy and demure to ask them to move and Heart, my ate, told them the seat was taken. That’s her playground so I told her, ‘Ate, can you tell them to move?’ he jokingly recalled.
After unveiling the magazine cover, the two cover models shared their first reactions upon finding out they would both be on the cover of Allure Philippines at the same time. “Oh my gosh, I feel like I had two reactions. When I found out I was on the cover, I lived. And then whey said it was with Heart (Evangelista), I died. I feel like there’s nothing to not admire about Heart. Her work ethic is amazing. It just makes me want to work harder!” Bret admitted.
For Heart, getting her schedule to align with the cover pictorial was the most crucial. “Mine was the opposite. First I was dead. We have to make our schedule work. Then I was risen because I found out I was with Bret. No matter how famous Bretman is, the heart is so pure. The success is so deserving and even more. Yun siguro yung pinaka trait na hindi ko makakalimutan sa kanya. And everybody that knows Bretman or everybody that wants to know Bretman, super worth emulating.”

On the day of their magazine pictorial, the two celebrities said it was a breeze to work with each other during their join layouts with Heart coming in bright and early. “We’re so busy. Even at the shoot I was there at what time and then Bretman came in. We’re both busy but the nice thing is that you know a good soul, you just feel it. So I know kahit we just bump into each other, it’s always nice,” Herat recalled
With their cover story titled The Filipino Now, the two also shared the biggest and most important beauty advice they’ve ever received in their life. “It’s about representing beauty and what beauty should be nowadays. There’s no standard. Part of a woman or a person’s beauty is her flaws. You should weaponize their mistakes and their downfalls. You should have these mistakes, take them and make them your weapon because it makes you a better person. Once you have all of that, you’ve gathered all of that, you’re so much more beautiful than you were,” Heart shared.
Bretman credited his loved ones as his biggest asset when it comes to defining beauty. “It’s not necessarily an advice but more of a state of mind. I feel like my grandmother and all the women in my life were such strong women and me as a young kid admiring them, it was hard not to get that confidence as well so I truly thank all of the women that I grew up with from my aunties to my grandma to my mother with the confidence that I have. They didn’t necessarily tell me [any] advice, but just being surrounded by them, strong Filipino women, made me the beautiful person that I am today,” he explained.
The first issue of Allure Philippines is now available at newsstands nationwide.
