Jessica Sanchez opened up about her experience performing while being nine months pregnant on the America's Got Talent stage.
The Filipino-American singer admitted that performing in her current state was challenging. "This has been the hardest season, I guess vocally and physically. My body is changing so I mean, it's been really crazy and it's been really tough," she relayed in an interview with Extra after being declared as the AGT season 20 winner.
Nonetheless, Jessica's supportive husband and her faith helped her get through it all. "With the help of my husband and having my faith, I just told myself keep pushing through and see if this is for you. Just do your best and man, I can't believe that I won," she stated.
In the same interview, the soon-to-be mom revealed her due date. "October 12. I am three weeks out, but I still need to drive to Texas (where she lives) which is I get 24-hour drive because I can't fly," she shared. "I'm really excited and the adrenaline is oh my goodness, it hasn't hit me yet completely."
Reflecting on her journey from the very first time she joined AGT at the age of 10, and now at 30 being hailed as the champion, Jessica remarked: " I think more than anything, I am super proud of myself going through this whole process [of being] 9 months pregnant and showing the world that I believe in myself now and I have the strength to get through this, and they have the strength to do this too. If you are somebody that's been doubting yourself, just keep believing because you have the strength to persevere."
Following her win, Jessica also took to social media to reflect on her journey, leading to her big win on AGT.
"Winning America's Got Talent wasn’t just about a single performance or one night… It was about a journey that began over 20 years ago. From a little girl with a dream and a voice that was bigger than her confidence, to the countless auditions, rejections, stages, and moments of doubt along the way… every single step shaped me and prepared me for this moment," she remarked.
The Filipino-American singer highlighted that winning the title is proof that God's timing is always perfect.
"This isn't just a trophy or a title, it's the reminder that dreams delayed are not dreams denied. That God's timing is always perfect. That perseverance, faith, and love can carry you through valleys you never thought you'd get out of," she stated.
