With the sudden passing of their eldest sibling Mito last September 23, Claudine Barretto and her older sister Marjorie fondly recalled their favorite memories with their brother on their respective social media accounts.
Claudine shared a reel of her favorite photos with her brother along with the caption, “I can't believe you left us this soon.my 💔 & soul is broken.rest in Paradise where there is no pain. I luv u always had forever will. when we reconciled u swallowed [your] pride & said you're sorry. i didn't know that was already Goodbye. I thank God & Mark for fixing us before leaving bcoz i might've never [forgiven] myself if we weren't ok.my Kuya. help me🙏i can't.really i can't 💔💔💔 @markbarretto”
In a series of Instagram posts last September 23, Claudine recalls having had a major argument with her late sibling earlier this year that almost resulted in her taking legal action against him.
Claudine wrote, “early this June my Brother & i had a fight.he said painful words that hurt me & i retaliated with hurting words & a demand letter.U can judge me later. a day before filing my Nephew mark intervened.for an Alpha male with such strong personality he got on the line & said 'dine I'm so so very sorry.' the Devil is trying to destroy us.all my life if there was that one person [whose] approval i so wanted was his.we both Cried while Mark,Mito & i where praying for healing. that wasn't the last.for the next 3weeks he would text me Dine im so sorry again and im proud of u,life is so short he wrote making sure i would forget & forgive him even if in all fiber of my being i already did. we talked again 2x then yesterday happened.”
Before ending her post, Claudine reminded her followers to appreciate their loved ones and to be more forgiving because life can be short. “i'm just saying while our loved ones are here Pls APOLOGIZE,FORGIVE GENUINELY. Our Family may not be normal but we say I luv u alot so please if u luv or if anyone asks for our forgiveness lets Forgive & Hug them as tight as we can bcoz tomorrow we might not be here anymore.Mito Im so so sorry again. i swear to take care of connie,Mark & John especially our apos.it was a privilege to have had u as my kuya. forgive me again & i luv u so much 💔💔💔,” she added.
Marjorie, who also shared a close relationship with her brother, wrote a lengthy post cherishing their life growing up as siblings.
She wrote, “The hardest caption I’ll ever write… My eldest brother, Mito, passed away so suddenly. So full of life. No warning, we are not prepared for this. I can’t imagine life without you—you were always present for every important occasion: every birthday, holiday, graduation, premiere night… always so proud of me and my children. You and Connie always opened your home was for us every Sunday or any day, a place filled with love, Connie’s cooking, laughter, and family.
"I will never have regrets, because I had the best memories with you and Connie, your children, and your grandchildren. You lived life and lived it to the fullest, and you captured it all through the best photos, leaving us with moments to treasure forever. You were everybody’s friend, the glue that kept us together, everybody loves you, Mito. What a guy!”
In the same post, Marjorie also thanked her brother one last time for taking on the role as patriarch of their family when their father Miguel passed away in 2019 due to illness.
“When Dad passed, you stepped in and took his place in the family. You were our rock, and you were the best. You loved my children so much and they are so heartbroken. The pain of losing you is unbearable, Mito. I didn’t know a life without you… and now I must learn to. I love love love love love you. Please guide us all here, watch over us as we suffer this great loss.”
Before ending her post, Marjorie also requested for prayers for her brother from her followers. As of this writing, Mito Barretto’s cause of death has not been released.
