MANILA -- Actress Nadine Lustre, long known for being vocal on social issues, joined a handful of other celebrities in the protests on September 21 in Quezon City.
Lustre, like thousands who marched on Sunday, called for accountability over alleged anomalies in flood control projects and systemic corruption in the government.
On her Instagram account, Lustre posted a photo of herself wearing a black shirt bearing the words: "Stop flooding us with corruption."
In a previous interview, the actress said she shared the public's anger and frustration over alleged corruption of individuals involved in flood control projects, and urged Filipinos to keep speaking out.
"Nakaka-galit, nakaka-lungkot na 'yung binibigay natin na buwis sa ganon napupunta. Nakakainis talaga. It is sad funds are being used for something else. It is good people are speaking up. It is important we are heard by the people," said Lustre.
The actress also praised Vice Ganda for having the courage to speak out on pressing issues.
"We all have to be outspoken. Si Meme, I have always admired Meme. Hindi siya natatakot sabihin nasa utak niya. At this day and age, we have to say what we want to say. Kung hindi, walang mangyayari sa atin," she said.

Several celebrities lent their star power during Sunday's protest, with Vice Ganda in particular drawing praise for her passionate speech at the People Power Monument.
In an expletive-laced speech, the "It's Showtime" host called for the return of the death penalty for corrupt government officials and challenged President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to jail those behind the anomalous projects.
"Tapos na ang panahon ng mabait at resilient... 'Di na uubra bait-baitan. Hindi ko babaitan mensahe ko — sa katunayan, mga hayop sila. Hindi natin kakalmahan dahil deserve nila ang galit, poot, at pikon," Vice Ganda said.
Early in the day, Elijah Canlas graced the Trillion Peso March, where he called those involved in the alleged misuse of public funds the "best actors."
Many celebrities also expressed their support for the protests on social media.
