Actress and National Goodwill Ambassador KC Concepcion made her first ever UN Mission trip to Mindanao earlier this week. She shared on her personal Instagram account some of the insights she had gathered during her stay in the southern area of the Philippines.

KC was recently assigned as the National Goodwill Ambassador by the United Nation World Food Programme (UN WFP). This marked her return to the organization after five years–– she had first started with the organization in 2008 when she became part of several mission trips both locally and internationally.

“I spent the last 48 hours out of Manila, for my very first U.N. mission trip with my new title as @worldfoodprogramme ‘Goodwill Ambassador’ 🦋 Day 1 in BARMM (the ‘Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao’ in Southwestern Philippines),” she wrote.

The actress met up with some of the people behind the school feeding program–– everyone that’s been involved.

“Together with the @wfp_philippines, was all about meeting the force behind our school feeding program~ the men, and women, whose hands and hard work produce the ingredients for the hot, nutritious, farm-to-table meals that keep kids excited to go to school (and to STAY in school), year after year,” she added.

KC shared a glimpse of what she’s been up to during her stay in Mindanao. From meeting various people to planting seeds for the food security of the children, the National Goodwill Ambassador made sure to make her trip memorable not just for her but to everyone involved.

“From planting seeds with the Sultan Mastura Vegetable Producers Cooperative (yes, marunong na ako mag-tanim konti 😅🌾), to sharing coconuts + home-cooked meals, to feeling the sobraaaang warm welcome of the community… I saw how farm to classroom really changes lives,” she shared.

She expressed her gratitude to everyone that welcomed and showed her and her team around the area.

“Honored to witness hope (and brighter futures) being planted for the next generation. 💙✨ More updates tomorrow,” she ended.
