When Makisig Morales said goodbye to local showbiz in order to start a new life in Australia with his parents and siblings in 2014, the 28-year-old actor said he never really planned to turn his back on performing for good. Now based in Sydney, Australia, with his wife Nicole, the former Super Inggo star talked to PUSH ABS-CBN in an exclusive interview about his life abroad.
“I’m not as active as before due to full-time work, pero hindi naman mawawala sa dugo ko ang singing. But I’m planning soon to upload songs again. Soon. Ganun din sa mga other business na pinag-iisipan pa namin mabuti, praying na soon din,” he said.
In 2019, Makisig started an online food business called NikMak Sweet Pack which sells and delivers traditional Filipino food to Pinoys that they personally prepared.
Whenever he performs on stage in Australia, Makisig said it always brings him joy to see kababayans enjoying the show.
“I think the only difference is the venue, pero Pinoy is Pinoy. Mainit pa rin ang pagtanggap ng mga tao dito sa mga mahal nilang artist. pero iba din naman sa Manila, siguro it really is more fun in the Philippines. Na-mi-miss ko sa mga fans sa Pinas is kitang kita mong genuine sila and yun talaga yung kasiyahan ko pag nakikita ko silang happy sa ginagawa ko,” he explained.

Even after officially receiving his Australian citizenship last year, Makisig admitted he still misses a lot of things about his life in Manila. In 2018, he returned to Manila to play the role of Dumakulem in the ABS-CBN fantaserye series Bagani which starred Enrique Gil, Liza Soberano, and Sofia Andres.
“Super na-mi-miss ko yung everything about Philippines. I miss the food, the places also mga relatives and friends. We have plans to come back in the near future once everything is settled here,” he said.

Even though he is now living on another continent, Makisig said he is still very much up to date with what is happening in the country and hopes that despite the recent calamities, Pinoys will still persevere.
“Stay positive lang po tayo, even though maraming bagyo and buhay, si Lord lang po ang unang una nating tatakbuhan dahil siya lang po ang makakapag provide ng mga pangangailangan natin. This is a little reminder po para sa ating lahat,” he added.
