Frankie Pangilinan has no plans of entering politics.
In an interview with Boy Abunda, Frankie emphasized that politics has never been part of her plans despite being vocal about national issues.
"I understood suddenly ganun pala ang mga tao actually. Tuwing nagiging politically involved, ibig sabihin may ambition... may interes at least, and I never was that kind of person," she pointed out.
Frankie said her outspokenness stems purely from her concern for her fellow Filipinos. "It is really just tao pong Pilipino na nais pong magbago ang mga problema sa Pilipinas and I think that's just really just it, bilang mamamayang Pilipino and hindi po bilang anak ng sino man," she emphasized.
In the same interview, the singer and online personality also opened up about being vocal online on national issues and why she eventually decided to take a step back. "I had to take a step back because I realized I was treating my Twitter—most people my age were treating their Twitter without a fundamental understanding—na teka lang I am not like most people my age," she said.
But she stressed that she is not backing down from speaking on important matters. Instead, she has become more selective about which issues to address.
"It is more of like realizing I didn't want to be the mouthpiece of movements that I shouldn't be the mouthpiece for... On Twitter for example nga like you see a lot of people my age we all talk about these issues, we talk about the same things... Hindi naman po ako 'yung unang nag-tweet tungkol sa feminism. Nagulat na lang po ako na bakit naging 'Kakie says' or di ba biglang all of the headlines like 'Kakie says this.'"
She went on: "[I felt] hurt about it but also it was okay, I took it like sort of like on the chin of I have a responsibility to myself to remember that I can't always be that sort of private person no matter how much I want to be."
Frankie is the daughter of senator Francis "Kiko" Pangilinan and Megastar Sharon Cuneta.
