Esnyr Ranollo recently revealed what he considers his biggest regret during his time in Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Collab Edition.
In an interview with Ogie Diaz, Esnyr shared that he regretted opening up about his issue with his father, Jhun, while inside the PBB house.
"Sobrang honest po talaga nito. Nung first three weeks eh sinabi ko po 'yung truth about sa Papa ko na hindi kami close. Kumbaga ginawa ko po 'yung open letter sa kanya kasi hindi ko po talaga masabi sa kanya 'yung nararamdaman ko, kaya ni-relay ko po siya through that episode," he admitted. “Iyon 'yung naiisip ko na kinare-regretan ko po talaga for how many weeks.”
Esnyr explained that he became anxious about how his revelation might affect his father, fearing it could invite negative reactions from viewers.
"It took me one month po talaga, nag-lie low po ako, nag-tone down ako kasi ino-overthink ko — hala, baka ma-divide 'yung perspective ng tao, ma-divide 'yung opinion nila, baka mag-cause po siya ng tension online. Tsaka hindi ko po naisip na baka may mag-throw ng hate sa Papa ko tapos ako 'yung may kagagawan," he said.
The content creator also admitted feeling selfish for focusing only on his personal struggles. "Parang na-feel ko that time ang selfish ko [na] sarili ko lang ang iniisip ko, sariling problema ko lang iniisip ko. Iyon po talaga 'yung nag-regret ako," he recounted.
It can be recalled that in an April episode of PBB, Esnyr became emotional as he shared how financial problems had caused a rift between him and his father. He also revealed the deep pain he feels over not having a close relationship with him.
Fortunately, things began to improve when he received a letter from his father during a task inside the PBB house.
Esyr recalled: "May task po kasi kami na may pinadalang letter 'yung parents namin. Ayun, inamin ng Papa ko dun. Parang iyon po 'yung naging way na maging okay kami at nawala 'yung regret ko... Gusto ko lang po talaga ma-feel 'yung pagmamahal niya sa akin kasi iyon po 'yung sabi ko doon na kung may message man ako sa mga taong may misconception sa akin, sabi ko doon, 'yung message ko na lang po ay para sa Papa ko, hindi para sa mga tao. Sobrang mahal ko po talaga 'yung Papa ko talaga."
Esnyr eventually had the chance to speak with his father face-to-face inside the PBB house. "Ayun po, nung pinapunta po siya dun, sobrang na-appreciate ko 'yung first time namin mag-usap ng heart-to-heart," he relayed.
After his time on PBB, their bond has grown even stronger. "And beyond PBB po talaga, nag-uusap na po kami. Nagha-heart-to-heart na kaming dalawa. Sobrang greateful po talaga ako sa PBB, sobrang nabago po talaga niya 'yung buhay ko in terms of my family at tsaka financially din po, may napro-provide siyang opportunities and blessings na I can't wait to give back to my parents," he highlighted.
When asked whether his father still expects him to contribute financially to his family, Esnyr responded: "Hindi na po talaga siya nag-oobliga sa akin... Super na-appreciate ko po siya kasi mine-message na niya po ako everyday na hindi na po about money, kinakamusta niya po ako. Tapos sobrang pagbalik niya dun sa hometown ko, pinagyayabang na niya ako, ganyan. Kaya iyon 'yung na-appreciate ko sa kanya. "
He also shared a touching revelation his father made during the show. "Tsaka 'yung in-open up niya, hindi ko alam na in-open up niya sa housemates na growing up po pala naghihintay lang po pala siya na aaminin ako sa kanya na bakla ako," he recalled.
