James Donaldson, popularly known as MrBeast, has a achieved a historic milestone as he reached 400 million subscribers on YouTube.
The content creator took to social media as he looked back on his journey over the past decade as he celebrated his new feat.
"400,000,000 subscribers! A decade ago before I blew up, everyone in my life told me I was too obsessed and [was] constantly told I’d never make it," he recounted.
In spite of facing skepticism, MrBeast said he remained driven by his passion. "Despite that, I was in love with making content and grinded every moment my eyes were open for 7 years before anyone started watching," he said.
He also opened up about a personal moment with his mother during the early days of his career. "I literally told my mom I’d rather be homeless than do anything else. The greatest gift in life is being able to wake up every day with a purpose and thanks to YouTube and you guys, I have that. Thanks for 400M 🥰," he said.
With 400 million subscribers, MrBeast is the most subscribed channel on YouTube.
MrBeast uploaded his fist video on YouTube back in February 2012.
In a recent interview with Steven Bartlett on The Diary of a CEO podcast, MrBeast attributed his success as a content creator to his relentless focus.
"It's very weird how I have extreme obsession to the point where I just think about the same [thing]. For me, it's much easier to think about something 16 hours a day for seven days straight than it is like to gear shift constantly," he shared.
The YouTuber described his ability to focus obsessively on a single goal as his "superpower."
"I'm really good at just obsessing over one thing more than anyone else on the planet. If I were to say, what's my superpower? It's that. I can just obsess endlessly about something, and I can just have the same thoughts over and over and over and over again. It's very weird. It wasn't like it was work for me grinding YouTube for those 10 years or whatever where no one was really watching it. It's just who I am," he highlighted.
MrBeast also relayed that he is fond of solving complex problems. "I think just in general, I just really love solving consistent, complex, hard problems. I think that's what gets me out of bed. The harder the problems, the more exciting it is," he stated.
