Marina Summers earns Angelina Jolie’s praise at Cannes red carpet

After making history as the first Filipino drag queen to walk the Cannes red carpet, Marina Summers reveals that she earned the praise of award-winning actress Angelina Jolie.

Filipino drag superstar Marina Summers attended the second day of the Cannes Film Festival 2025 red carpet.  

 



 

In an Instagram post on Monday, May 19, Marina shared her encounter with American actress Angelina Jolie, revealing she received a compliment for her look.  

 

“I met Angelina Jolie, and she said that I look gorgeous tonight,” she delightedly shared.  

 

A candid photo of her encounter with the award-winning actress was included in the post.  

 

Marina was wearing a gold gown by Filipino designer Rajo Laurel.  

 




“Forever your golden girl,” she wrote in her post’s caption.  

 

According to Marina, it was not supposed to be the gown she was going to wear for the event.  

 

“Quick story time: Was actually supposed to wear a different dress for this day and it didn’t arrive, thankfully Sir @rajolaurel ‘s archival piece was with me for the ultimate rescue,” she shared.  

 

Marina’s appearance at the prestigious event was a historic moment of the Philippine drag community, as she once again created “herstory” as the first Filipino drag queen to grace the Cannes red carpet.

In an Instagram post on Saturday, May 17, the RuPaul’s Drag Race UK vs The World finalist proudly she shared her achievement which she dedicated to her fellow Filipino drag artists. 

 




“So so so honored to be the first Filipina drag queen to be invited to walk the red carpet of @festivaldecannes Such a big moment to be repping for the Filipino Drag and Queer community in the sea of people on the red carpet,” she captioned her post. 

 



 

On the first day of the event, Marina was stunning in her black sequined custom-made gown by Filipino designer Mark Bumgarner — the maker of Miss Universe Philippines 2023 Michelle Dee’s iconic Apo Whang-Od-inspired gown.  

 

Marina finished her RuPaul’s Drag Race: UK vs The World stint as top 4 finalist.  

 

She was also the runner-up to Precious Paula Nicole for the pilot season of Drag Race Philippines.  

 

Marina was given the privilege to perform at the Miss Universe Philippines stage in 2024 which delighted the LGBTQIA+ community.
