Filipino personalities celebrate Alex Eala's historic Mubadala DC Open victory

Several Filipino celebrities celebrated Alex Eala's historic victory at the Mubadala DC Open by leaving congratulatory messages on her social media post.

On Instagram, the Filipina tennis star marked the milestone by sharing a photo of herself holding her first WTA singles trophy.

“Me and my first🥹,” Alex captioned the post.

Broadcaster Karen Davila celebrated the tennis star's victory, writing, "CONGRATULATIONS @alex.eala! Tears of joy! 😭 Hard earned victory!!!! BRAVO ALEX!"

Television host Bianca Gonzalez also praised the athlete for making the country proud.

"YOU ARE INCREDIBLE ❤️❤️❤️ Maraming salamat Alex!!!!" Bianca wrote.

Host Iya Villania likewise expressed her admiration for Alex.

"You make us soooo proud!!! 👏👏👏 congratulations, Alex!!!" Iya wrote.

Actress Iza Calzado, meanwhile, expressed her confidence that more victories await the young tennis star.

"First of many!!! Mabuhay ka!!!" Iza Calzado said.



Alex triumphed over world No. 3 Jessica Pegula of the United States to capture the 2026 Mubadala DC Open title.

The Filipina tennis star rallied from a set down to defeat Jessica, 4-6, 6-4, 6-0, in the final and claim the first WTA singles title of her career.

With the historic victory, Alex also became the first Filipino tennis player to win a WTA Tour title.

Following her triumph, the 21-year-old athlete reflected on the overwhelming support she received from her loved ones and fans throughout the tournament.

"Before the final yesterday, I got so many messages, sweet messages from my family and my friends who are on tour, wherever else in the world. I thought to myself, I feel so much love," Alexa said in her post-match interview.

"So standing here in the middle of all this love, my first chance at a title, knowing that it won't be my last, and already having achieved this feat and this milestone for my career, I knew that whatever would have happened after this match, it would have already been a win for me," she added.

Alex also expressed her gratitude to the Filipino fans who supported her in Washington, D.C., back home, and around the world.

"Thank you to all my supporters especially the Filipino community here in DC and back home, and wherever you are in the world... I feel all the love. Maraming, maraming salamat mga kababayan," she remarked.
