Award-winning theater actress Lea Salonga is part of the May/June cover of American LGBTQ news, fashion, entertainment, and lifestyle magazine Out. Joining her in the cover were Broadway stars such as Idina Menzel, Megan Hilty, Kristin Chenoweth, and Maleah Joi Moon.
Lea shared in the interview with Out how she uses her voice to express her support towards the members of the LGBTQIA+ Community.

The award winning singer and actress has a trans son, Nic Chien, who’s an example of why she uses her voice to speak about the “trans folks” whose stories are “being erased.”
“It’s important for me to speak up for kids like my own kid, because trans folks are being erased, as if their existence never happened. But trans folks have been around forever,” she shared with Out.
When asked to be on the cover for Out magazine, Lea maintained it was an easy choice to make for her.
“The only thing that trans folks, any LGBT person wants, is to exist and to live and to love in the way that they were born to. Full stop… And so I am advocating for my son to be a successful human being, to be the person that he has always meant to be. My job is just to usher this young person into figuring all of that out. And to try to defend him as best as I can,” she added.

It was earlier this year when Lea was asked by PEOPLE magazine about how she supported her child Nic during his transition. Her son claimed how proud he is as a transman due to the acceptance and support of his family.
“The one thing I’ve learned is that you have to raise your child the way your child needs to be raised… As a parent I want to set my child up for success. I want my child to feel safe and strong and ready to conquer the world on their own terms,” she previously shared.
Meanwhile, Lea and Nic are set to reunite on stage as Theater Group Asia brings Into The Woods to the country on a limited engagement run from August 7 until August 24. Nic will be playing Jack while Lea will be The Witch.
