Candy Pangilinan shared that her son Quentin is now working in a restaurant.
In her latest YouTube vlog, the actress documented Quentin’s routine at the restaurant in Quezon City where he is currently undergoing training.
"Papunta ako Cucina Francesco kung saan nandun si Quentin. Magiging ano niya tayo ngayon, magiging client and siya po ang ating server. Nag o-OJT po si Quentin diyan sa Cucina Di Francesco katabi po ng Pader Pio [church]. Tingnan natin kung paano siya," Candy said.
In the vlog, Quentin can be seen taking orders, setting tables, and serving food. One of the staff members also informed Candy that her son also helps with grocery shopping for the restaurant’s supplies.
It's the first time that Candy has visited Quentin at his workplace. She dined with their family in the restaurant. "I was told that Quentin is more behaved when I am not around. He seems to be restless in the presence of a familiar face. This is the first time I visited Quentin in two months of his work here," Candy relayed.
The actress emphasized that giving responsibilities to individuals with special needs helps them regulate their emotions.
"Importante 'yung they feel needed, they feel useful, di ba? Kaya nakakalimutan niyang mag-tantrums or any range of emotions kasi busy," Candy said.
Quentin has been diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
By the end of the vlog, Candy called on people to support restaurants that provide employment opportunities for persons with disabilities (PWDs).
"Let's support businesses that open their companies to PWDs as workers. Quentin is very loyal. Having someone like Quentin in your company is like hiring a human CCTV. This also makes the workplace kinder, more patient and helpful with one another," she remarked.
