In an Instagram post on Sunday evening, March 23, the It's Showtime host shared a photo of his departed fur baby, dedicating a brief but heartfelt message.
"Our hearts are broken. Go roam free in dog heaven dear Paul. We love you," he said.
Ogie did not disclose the reason behind his pet’s death in the post.
The comment section was flooded with sad and crying emojis, empathizing with Ogie’s loss.
Actress-comedian and Pilipinas Got Talent judge Eugene Domingo commented a sad emoji, along with other celebrities like The Voice US Season 26 winner Sofronio Vasquez and Janno Gibs.
Artist Chuck Severino also commented, “So sorry to hear bro. May God’s comfort be yours during this time and to the rest of the family.”
Some netizens also expressed their message of sympathy for the grieving fur dad in the comment section.
“I’m sorry for your loss sir Ogie. Run free in heaven fur baby, Paul,” one netizen wrote.
Ogie first introduced Paul to the online world in an Instagram post, sharing how they were able to rescue the dog who was in the verge of death at that time.
“This is Paul. We rescued him dahil may isang lugar na 100 dogs ang papatayin dahil wala na silang malugaran. 99 ay nakuha at si Paul ang natira. Itinawag sa akin ni @leilalcasid thru @gabsgibbs at eto na sya. Malusog at napakabait. We love you Paully,” he narrated.
The said post gained appreciation from netizens who expressed their gratitude for their act.
“Thank you sa pag rescue sa mga dogs na nanganagilangan. Sana mas marami pang mag-adopt at tumulong sa kanila,” one netizen wrote.
In a 2019 interview with Rider PH Studios, Ogie shared how they spoil their dogs in the house.
“We spoil them you know, they sleep with us, they are in aircon. The Shih Tzu sleeps with us, si Lou sleeps with Leila, si Cyrus sa veranda, bantay niya ‘yun,” he said. #
