Meteor Garden star Van Ness Wu penned a tribute for Barbie Hsu.
On Friday, February 7, the actor-singer posted a message for Barbie on his Instagram page.
"Big Smile, Big Heart, Big Laugh, Big Love… Big S (Barbie's stage name)," he wrote.
Van Ness went on: "Thank you for all your kindness throughout the years, especially from when we first met… Miss you dearly Barbie. 🤍 Rest in Love †."
Fans online were quick to react to Van Ness's post.
"Meizuo 😢😍😍😍 thank you for this... We missed our Shan Cai😭😭😭," one fan commented.
"Thank you, Meteor Garden. Thank you for all [of you] guys [who] made my youthful days meaningful 🫶🏻😭 ," another fan said.
Van Ness played the role of Meizuo of F4 in Meteor Garden in 2001.
Another Meteor Garden co-star, Jerry Yan, who played the role of Dao Ming Si also previously penned a tribute for Barbie following her passing.
On the Chinese social media platform Weibo, Jerry wrote as per English translation: "Thankful for meeting you. In your carefree, childlike years, you always say, treat every day as your last. Have a great time. I hope you walk slowly this time. From now on, in another world, there will be no worries and the years will be peaceful."
Previously, other Meteor Garden stars Ken Chu and Rainie Yang also posted a tribute for Barbie.
Meteor Garden is a Taiwanese adaptation of the Japanese comic series Hana Yori Dango. The series follows the story of a working class girl, Shan Cai, and her entanglement with a group of rich and influential students known as the "F4" (Flower Four).
Barbie tragically passed away at the age of 48 from pneumonia. Her sister, Dee Hsu, shared the news of February 3 via her manager to the Taiwanese media.
"Thanks for all the concern. Over the Chinese New Year period, our entire family travelled to Japan for a holiday, and my most beloved, kindest elder sister Barbie came down with influenza-related pneumonia and has unfortunately left us," the statement read as reported by Star ETToday according to a report by The Straits Times.
