Karen Davila celebrated Christmas and the 18th birthday of her son, Lucas Sta. Ana, in Niseko, Hokkaido in Japan.

In an Instagram post, Karen shared the snapshots of her family in a skiing resort in Niseko. "CHRISTMAS 2025 🎄I feel it in my fingers… I feel it in my toes… at -8 degrees, no kidding! It’s freezing 🥶" she posted.

The ABS-CBN broadcaster then penned a birthday message for her son. "HAPPY BIRTHDAY dearest LUKIE!!! Just turned 18 🎂 We love you so so much ❤️ May you grow into the man God wants you to be! God is gracious. My heart is full," she remarked.

Karen then expressed her awe of the winter wonderland that is Niseko.

She wrote: "Niseko is absolutely where snow dreams come true. Powder paradise ⛷️ Blessed to be back with friends & family. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to everyone 😘."

Lucas was quick to react to Karen's post. "I'm so happy to be here Mom and I love you mom," he commented.

Back in July, Karen accompanied Lucas as she dropped off her son at Yale University for the summer in New York.

In September 2024, Lucas became a representative of the Philippines for a United Nations event in New York.

Karen took to social media to express how proud she was of her son for the said feat.  "UN SUMMIT OF THE FUTURE 🇺🇳 🌏 So proud of you Lukie for being invited to be one of this year’s youth delegates for the Summit Of The Future Action Days!" the TV Patrol news anchor shared on her Instagram page at that time.

As per un.org, the Action Days "are an opportunity to elevate the voice of youth in the multilateral system. Youth are key participants in efforts to secure breakthroughs in global cooperation."

Karen remarked that she has been a witness to the hard work of her son saying: "I’ve seen how hard you’ve been working on your projects. I am so proud of you. Love you with all my heart ❤️ Am blessed to be your mom 😘," she remarked.

Back in May 2023, Karen and Lucas did volunteer work in Marawi and Cotabato for UN Women.

"NANAY AT ANAK 🇵🇭🇺🇳 Last weekend, my 15 yr old son Lucas joined me on my volunteer work for #UNWomenPH in Marawi & Cotabato. One of our best bonding moments ever!" Karen posted on social media at that time.

The broadcaster relayed that the experience was an eye-opener for Lucas.

"Exposure and experience are great teachers. He’s only seen war in films so stepping into Marawi was such a transformative & eye-opening experience for him," she said.

Karen remarked that she was filled with gratitude for the opportunity to do this volunteer work with her son.

"I thank God for this opportunity with my son and thank you UN WOMEN PH for the amazing work that you do," she stated.
