OPM icon Ogie Alcasid is grieving the loss of his beloved labrador, Ringo, whom he described as a loyal and loving member of their family.
On December 13, Ogie shared an emotional Instagram post bidding farewell to Ringo, accompanied by two photos that reflected the years they spent together – one showing him hugging Ringo as a puppy, and another capturing the dog fully grown. In his message, Ogie looked back on the unconditional love Ringo gave from the very beginning and the quiet strength he showed, especially in his final days.
“You have loved us from the very beginning. You and your pure heart.”
As he continued, Ogie opened about the difficulty of watching Ringo struggle in his last moments, recalling how each goodbye felt heavier as the inevitable drew closer: “These past few days have been so difficult for you and my heart broke each time I had to pat you as I knew this day was nearing.”
He then expressed his gratitude for the joy and protection the labrador gave their family over the years, honoring the simple yet profound ways the dog showed his devotion.
“Ringo, thank you for the endless joy you gave us. For protecting our home from intruders and for welcoming us back and our guests with loving barks.”
Ogie ended his tribute by acknowledging the deep bond they shared and the pain of letting go, offering a final wish for Ringo to rest in peace.
“You were a really special friend and I will miss you so much. Roam free now in dog heaven baba. 💔🙏🐶”
The singer-songwriter did not disclose the cause of Ringo’s passing. In the comment section, friends, colleagues, and fans expressed their sympathy, filling the post with messages of comfort and sadness. Ogie’s It’s Showtime and ASAP families were among those who reached out.

Ogie had been with Ringo ever since he was a puppy. In a video reel shared in 2018, the OPM icon fondly featured his dog and referred to him as “my pogi Ringo boy,” showing the closeness they shared.
Earlier this year in March, Ogie also mourned about the loss of another pet dog, Paul, whom he remembered in a brief but touching Instagram post.
“Our hearts are broken. Go roam free in dog heaven dear Paul. We love you,” he previously wrote.
