Filipino gymnast Carlos Yulo received a surprise party from friends and family following his big wins at the 53rd Artistic Gymnastics World Championships in Jakarta, Indonesia.
Carlo's girlfriend, Chloe San Jose, shared a clip of the moment they discovered the surprise waiting for them after returning from their flight.
"Woke up from our long nap coming from our flight from Jakarta to Manila early this morning, still half-asleep and in our pambahay when... SURPRISE!!" she wrote on social media.
Chloe went on to thank everyone who came to celebrate with them. "Excuse our sleepy faces and pajama, but this moment means the world. No fancy setups, no grand gifts; just the truest form of love, laughter, and the people who’ve been with us through it all when everything was uncertain. It's really not about the material things, but the presence, the memories, and the hearts that stay constant," she said.
She added: "Thank you to our small but genuine family and circle of friends, for always showing up and reminding us what matters most 💌 Mahal, we’re so so proud of you!! Congratulations again 🍾🎊."
Carlos recently took home the gold medal in the men's vault final and the bronze medal in the men's floor exercise at the 53rd Artistic Gymnastics World Championships.
Following his triumphs, Carlos took to social media to reflect on this new milestone in his sports career.
"I honestly don’t know how to start this caption… all I feel right now is pure gratitude to the Lord 🙏🏻," he wrote on his Instagram page. "I'm beyond grateful and thankful, Lord, for all the challenges You’ve allowed me to experience, for guiding me, and for blessing me with this kind of talent to share with the world. Thank You for surrounding me with genuine people who truly support and love me. I’m deeply, deeply thankful ❤️."
The victory adds to a remarkable run for the 25-year-old gymnast, who made history at the 2024 Paris Summer Games by winning gold in both the vault and floor exercise, becoming the first Filipino to win multiple medals in a single Olympics.
