MANILA -- Actress Maris Racal confirmed that she told her then-boyfriend Rico Blanco about her and onscreen partner Anthony Jennings's brewing attraction, which started last June when she was in a "very dark place."
On Friday, December 6, Racal addressed allegations that she was a factor in the breakup of Jennings and his longtime girlfriend.
Racal started by saying that she was taking accountability and apologized for everything that she had done.
In her over 14-minute statement, Racal said after sensing that there's something developing between her and Jennings, she told her former boyfriend about what was happening.
"It all started last June of 2024. I was in a very dark place. I was lonely and I was getting attention from Anthony, the kind of attention that I needed. When I sensed that there was this brewing attraction between Anthony and I, nadala ako sa emotions ko. And I knew that it was wrong. I came clean right away. I told my ex everything and I admitted things to him and then we broke up," Racal said.
"It wasn't easy. It was really hard for me to announce the breakup. The reason why I became so emotional during that time because I was holding back the truth, 'yun 'yung totoo. I wasn't really able to simmer down. I wasn't able reflect on what had happened. I was working everyday for weeks straight, months straight bago nagsimula 'yung madaming trabaho namin. I told Anthony that I broke up with my ex and he also said the same thing," Racal said.
It was last July 12 when Racal confirmed her split with Rico Blanco, who took the situation "like a man."
Racal stressed that she was clueless about what was happening between Jennings and his girlfriend of over seven years.

Jennings earlier confirmed that he and his long-time girlfriend Jamela Villanueva broke up due to personal issues, stressing that Racal was not involved in their split.
Jennings said their breakup was all because of his shortcomings. The actor also urged the public not to attack his former girlfriend and respect her privacy.

Last Tuesday, via social media posts, Villanueva said she is grateful that Jennings finally spoke and expressed her pain of having to stay silent despite being attacked.
She also posted a series of alleged screenshots she acquired between Jennings and Racal, suggesting that the actress was possibly involved as a third party.
She also shared her alleged conversations with Jennings, implying he was going to "stop things" between him and Racal.
