MANILA (UPDATED) — Adamson University had to dig deep to complete a sweep of University of the East, winning back-to-back games for the first time in UAAP Season 88 women's volleyball while boosting its Final Four chances.
The Lady Falcons secured their sixth win in 10 games after a 25-15, 25-18, 28-26 victory over the Lady Warriors on Saturday at the University of Santo Tomas Quadricentennial Pavilion in Manila.
Adamson crawled back from an eight-point deficit in the third set, 8-16, behind Frances Mordi, Shaina Nitura, and Lhouiz Tuddao to climb to solo fourth in the team standings.
"Sinabi ko lang sa kanila na hindi pa naman tapos," said Lady Falcons head coach JP Yude. "I believed in the players. Sinabi ko lang sa kanila na hindi tayo matatalo sa set na 'to," he added.
Nitura finished with 13 points, nine digs, eight receptions, and the game-sealing kill, while Mordi led the scoring with 18 points, to go with six digs and six receptions. Tuddao added nine markers.
Abegail Segui chipped in seven points and nine digs, while Fhey Sagaysay tallied 12 excellent sets, along with three points and four digs.
The balanced effort allowed Adamson to recover from a slow start in the third frame, with Nitura and Tuddao delivering in the clutch.
Knotted at 26-all following a successful net fault challenge by the Lady Falcons, Tuddao put her team at match point before Nitura sealed the win with a hammering kill that eliminated the Lady Red Warriors from Final Four contention.
The loss marked UE's 10th straight defeat in Season 88, as well as its 24th consecutive loss dating back to Season 87 in 2025, spoiling a 14-point effort from Khy Cepada, who also had four receptions and three digs.
