MANILA — Sherwin Meneses expressed his heartfelt gratitude to National University (NU) after serving as the Lady Bulldogs' head coach for one year in UAAP Season 87.

Meneses has parted ways with the Lady Bulldogs after his contract expired, which only lasted for a year.

He left the NU nest on a high note, having guided the team to back-to-back women's volleyball titles and UAAP stars Bella Belen and Alyssa Solomon to a triumphant send-off.

"I would like to express my deepest gratitude to National University, the management, and the entire NU family for the trust and opportunity you have given me to serve as head coach," Meneses shared in an Instagram post on Friday.

The decorated mentor said that being the team's head coach was "one of the greatest honors of my career," citing the players' drive to winning and the community's commitment to excellence.

"It has truly been one of the greatest honors of my career to work with such passionate and hardworking athletes, and to be part of a community that lives by discipline, heart, and excellence," he said.

"I will forever carry with me the pride of being part of this family, and I will continue to support the team in any way I can," he added.

Meneses told his former players to "keep moving forward" as they continue their young volleyball careers.

"To the players, remember this — always give your best, chase success with everything you have, and keep moving forward," he said.

"There is no turning back — only chances to grow, to learn, and to become better every single day. Believe in yourselves, trust the process, and play with your whole heart."

Meneses also sent his warm regards to Regine Diego, who stepped in as the new head coach, now burdened with a gargantuan task to spearhead NU's three-peat campaign in Season 88.

"I also want to extend my best wishes to Coach Regine as she takes on this new journey with the team. I am excited to see you all soar even higher under her guidance," he went on.

Diego previously acknowledged that it would be a "really, really hard" title defense without the likes of Belen, Solomon, Erin Pangilinan, and Sheena Toring, who all exited NU after Season 87.
