MANILA – The PLDT High Speed Hitters, despite stumbling in Set 1, continued their winning ways by defeating the Zus Coffee Thunderbelles in their 2025 Premier Volleyball League Invitational clash on Thursday at the Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.
They shook off a slow start to clinch a four-set victory over Zus Coffee, 26-24, 25-17, 25-17, 25-14 to extend their streak to 12 wins, still a franchise-best.
Despite the game not affecting PLDT's standing, the High Speed Hitters still fielded stars Savi Davison, Kim Kianna Dy and Kim Fajardo.
The tandem of Kate Santiago and Wielyn Estoque powered Zus Coffee to snatch the first set from PLDT, combining for 14 points in the tightly contested opening extended frame.

However, the Rald Ricafort-coached squad found its footing in the second, led by the strong attacks of Davison and Dy plus the blocking of Dell Palomata.
The High Speed Hitters rode on the momentum to win the third set, containing the Thunderbelles.
In the final frame, the PVL On Tour champions put away the Thunderbelles for good with the final blow coming from Jessey De Leon.
Davison finished with 26 points off 24 attacks and 2 blocks, while Palomata and Dy added 11 points each. Estoque had 15 points, while Dolly Verzosa had 10 points in a losing effort.
The match served as a final test for PLDT ahead of the final on Sunday. The High Speed Hitters have a chance to sweep two PVL tournaments in a row and push their undefeated run to 13.
PLDT is awaiting the winner of the virtual knockout clash between Kobe Shinwa University and the Chery Tiggo Crossovers on Friday.
