After an opening day loss against Thailand, Alas Pilipinas Women could not rebound, suffering a 13-25, 21-25, 25-23, 9-25 defeat at the hands of Vietnam in the 2025 SEA Women's V.League on Saturday.
They took one set from the Vietnam side, but that was it as the Tran Thi Thanh Thuy-captained squad remained too much to handle for Team Philippines.
The Nationals kept it close early against their AVC Nations Cup Finals tormentors, only behind by one at 8-7 in the opening chapter, but the Vietnamese pulled away as they unleashed a 17-6 kick for a 1-0 lead.

The Filipinas closed within three, 22-19, after falling behind by as much as six in Set 2, 21-15, but could not get the job done as an off-speed spike by Thi Uyen Nguyen and a sharp attack from Thi Bich Thuy Tran eventually powered Vietnam to a 2-0 set scores.
Set 3 was their best showing, clinching the frame after a 3-1 closing efforts from the 22-all mark, sparked by Dell Palomata's tap and Eya Laure's off-the-block hit.

Vietnam still saved one set point after Bella Belen's service went out, but an error at the line from the Vietnamese crew gifted the set to Filipinas, 25-23.
The powerhouse that they are, the Vietnamese finally closed out as they uncorked a 6-0 run in the last chapter from the 5-3 count, dealing the Philippines' second loss in a row.
Alas Women will play Indonesia in the last day, hoping to make a podium finish in the first leg.
