MANILA -- Creamline thrilled their fans at the Chavit Coliseum in Vigan, Ilocos Sur as they took care of business against the Capital1 Solar Spikers in their first assignment of the PVL on Tour on Sunday evening.
Save for a nervy second set, it was smooth sailing for the Cool Smashers in their 25-10, 25-21, 25-10 triumph.
Jema Galanza had 12 points on 9 kills, two aces and a block, while Michele Gumabao added 11 points and Pangs Panaga added 10, including three blocks. Team captain Alyssa Valdez contributed nine points.
The lopsided nature of the third set allowed Creamline coach Sherwin Meneses to give playing time to his reserves, and Lorie Bernardo answered the call by scoring five points, including the match-winner.
No player reached double-digits for Capital1, who could not give new head coach Jorge de Brito a winning debut. The Solar Spikers were playing without top overall pick Bella Belen who is still attending to her duties with Alas Pilipinas.
