MANILA -- Cignal displayed its championship poise in a nervy three-set affair against Savouge, Friday night at the Paco Arena in Manila.
The Super Spikers were pushed to the limit but eventually secured a 34-32, 25-22, 25-22 victory to take their place in the semifinals of the 2025 Spikers' Turf Invitational Conference.
Cignal HD survived a marathon opener before settling down in the next two frames, denying Savouge its bid for an upset.
The result improved Cignal's record to 5-2 and propelled them to the semis, where they joined unbeaten rival Criss Cross (6-0).
"The score was close, ang kaibahan lang niyan ay the soft skills," said Cignal head coach Dexter Clamor. "'Yung patience, 'yung intensity, aggressiveness—'yung mga bagay na hindi nakikita sa court. 'Yung mental toughness, maybe 'yun 'yung naging advantage namin this game."
It was a bounce-back win for Cignal HD after a four-set defeat to University of Santo Tomas in their previous assignment last Wednesday.
Louie Ramirez led Cignal with 14 points and 12 excellent receptions, while Lloyd Josafat added 10 markers, including four blocks. Wendel Miguel and Jau Umandal chipped in nine points apiece, and Jay Rack Dela Noche contributed seven.
Savouge Aesthetics ended the eliminations with a 4-3 record and must now wait for the results of Sunday's UST-Gameville vs. FEU-DN Steel match and the Criss Cross vs. Alpha Insurance clash to determine its semis fate.
