MANILA — After a short-lived standoff between the Premier Volleyball League and the Philippine National Volleyball Federation, the 2025 Reinforced Conference is now in full gear.
The initial opening day matches were declared void, set to be replayed on a later date.
Petro Gazz officially raised the curtains, making quick work of Galeries Tower, 25-21, 25-19, 25-14, at the Dasmariñas Arena on Thursday.

Brooke Van Sickle, as usual, fired 14 points and had six excellent digs, while American import Lindsey Vander Weide made her presence felt with 13 markers.
“I just tried to enjoy every point. I’m just really happy with this opportunity – being able to play and be coached by my parents again,” said Van Sickle, who has the backing of her parents, Gary and Lisa, who are now the coaching tandem of the Angels.
The Angels are seeking continued excellence in the PVL, having won the 2024-25 All-Filipino Conference.
Widely regarded as a strong contender in the Reinforced Conference, Petro Gazz aims to live up to the billing once more.
Vander Weide, a key cog in their championship-winning run in the 2022 Reinforced campaign, expressed confidence in their "solid" crew.
“I think we have a lot of depth this year. We have solid players coming in and anybody can step up on the court and make a difference. So that makes me really comfortable playing with them,” she said.
