The Petro Gazz Angels face the Chery Tiggo EV Crossovers in the PVL Reinforced Conference on Saturday at the Capital Arena in Ilagan City, Isabela. PVL Media BureauILAGAN, Isabela — Petro Gazz has secured its second win in the 2025 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) Reinforced Conference.
The Angels outworked Chery Tiggo EV, 25-15, 20-25, 25-23, 25-21, at the Capital Arena in Ilagan City, Isabela in Pool B on Saturday.
This was a bounce-back win, as they were coming from a 20-25, 21-25, 25-17, 20-25 loss against Creamline just this Tuesday.
Tied at 1-1, Petro Gazz remained unfazed despite a Chery Tiggo fightback in Set 3. The Angels quickly installed a 15-6 lead—atoning for their sins after a Set 2 loss—but they squandered it as the Crossovers regained their rhythm and shut down import Lindsey Vander Weide's attacks to knot the game at 21-all.

After exchanging points, Van Sickle made sure to close it out, firing a sharp spike and an off-speed from the 23-all count to silence the Crossovers and gain a 2-1 lead.

Trailing by two points late in Set 4, 19-21, the Angels found the finishing kick, leaning on a 6-0 run—four of those came from Vander Weide's sharp attacks, accompanied by Chery Tiggo errors—to finally clinch the victory.
But it wasn't all Vander Weide during those moments, as Brooke Van Sickle assisted the team by keeping the ball alive, digging the Chery Tiggo attacks for the American reinforcement to kill.
"I mean, on the last six points, Brooke [Van Sickle] was digging every single ball. So when Brooke digs that ball, it fires me up," said Vander Weide.
"If Brooke wasn't back there, I wouldn't have even had the opportunity. So I mean, it just comes from us playing as a team. Someone digging, someone sending me a perfect ball, putting it away," she added.
The Van Sickle-led squad improved to 2-1, while keeping the Crossovers winless in three games.
"I thought Cherry Tiggo did a fantastic job of just pushing us mentally and physically to our limits. Like, we're exhausted," said the Fil-American star spiker, giving credit to the other side.
Van Sickle and Vander Weide led the squad with 25 points each, while MJ Phillips and Myla Pablo also breached twin-digit scoring with 10 each.
Van Sickle did the dirty work on the defense, tallying 20 excellent digs and 15 excellent receptions.
On the other hand, Cuban import Yunieska Batista paced the Crossovers' scoring with 21 points, as Cess Robles chipped in 14 markers.
