MANILA -- Meet Diwa -- the official mascot of the FIFA Futsal Women’s World Cup 2025, which the Philippines will host later this year.
Diwa was unveiled during a program at the San Joaquin Elementary School in Pasig City on Saturday.
Diwa is described as "a spirited character at one with nature" who is also a "formidable futsal player and a beacon of inspiration for girls."
Her design drew inspiration from the "diwata" -- the fairy of Philippine folklore. The mascot is "symbol of power, grace and teamwork, qualities that combine to make her a formidable futsal player and a beacon of inspiration for girls across the Southeast Asian country and beyond," according to a statement.

"Though blessed with extraordinary on-pitch attributes, including electrifying pace, breathtaking vision and unbeatable strength, Diwa's true power lies in her teamwork, with her profile offering a reminder that collaboration and community are at the heart of futsal," organizers added.
Aside from the mascot unveiling, the Local Organizing Committee and the Philippine Football Federation also conducted a futsal skills clinic during Saturday's event.
A total of 16 national teams will compete in the tournament set for November 21 to December 7: Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, IR Iran, Italy, Japan, Morocco, New Zealand, Panama, Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Tanzania and Thailand.
It will be the first FIFA tournament to be hosted in the Philippines.
