Filipina tennis star Alex Eala and Eva Lys bowed out of contention in the Wimbledon women's doubles on Thursday, after losing in the first round to the pair of Quinn Gleason and Ingrid Martins.

Gleason and Martins bundled out Eala and Lys in straight sets, 6-4, 6-2.

Down 5-1, Lys and Eala held their serve to stay alive, only for Gleason and Martins to hold them to love in the next game to seal the deal.

The loss ends Eala's maiden campaign at the All-England Club. She made history on Tuesday when she competed at Centre Court, giving defending champion Barbora Krejčíková a fright before losing in three sets.
