MANILA — Filipina tennis sensation Alex Eala is ready to take on opportunities that her run at the Miami Open have opened up for her.
On her Instagram account, Eala said the Miami Open had left her speechless and full of pride and gratitude.
“I recognize that these two weeks have opened the door to so many opportunities for me, but along with those opportunities come a whole new set of obstacles I will have to navigate through,” she said.
“The real work starts now. “
Eala exited the Miami Open in the semifinals of a run that saw her beat Grand Slam champions Jelena Ostapenko, Madison Keys, and Iga Swiatek.

She said she had no regrets since she "gave everything I had" against world No. 4 Jessica Pegula in their match.
Eala is now ranked No. 75 in the Women’s Tennis Association.
“I’m proud of myself for pushing through those tough moments, as well as to have been able to make a statement for the Philippines in one of the biggest stages of tennis,” she said in the same Instagram post.
“Moreover, I’m thankful for all the positivity coming my way, and I pray that you all continue sending support through the highs and lows. Salamat sa lahat ng pagdadasal at magagandang mensahe.”
