Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes said on Wednesday (February 5) that he was excited to perform in front of U.S. President Donald Trump at Sunday's Super Bowl in New Orleans.
Trump will become the first sitting president to be a spectator at the NFL title game, in which the Kansas City Chiefs will go for an unprecedented "three-peat" against the Philadelphia Eagles at the Superdome.
"It's always cool to be able to play in front of a sitting president. Someone that is at the top position in our country," Mahomes said.
Trump was asked in the Oval Office which team would win the game, and responded with a reference to Mahomes.
"I don't want to say but there's a certain quarterback that seems to be a pretty good winner," Trump said.
Mahomes said he had not seen the clip.
"But it's cool to hear that he's seen me play football and respects the game that I play."

Others on the team welcomed the addition of the president in the stands.
"I mean it's pretty cool. Anybody who comes to watch the game, I'm happy about," said cornerback Trend McDuffie. "But I gotta make sure I'm locked in on the field, so I'm (not) going to let that be a distraction."
Meanwhile, Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid said on Wednesday that there were no injuries to report.
The clean bill of health stands in contrast to throughout the Chiefs' season when several of their wide receivers were out with injuries.
During that time, the team relied on its rookie wide receiver Xavier Worthy to step up.
And step up he did. The Texas Longhorn made 59 receptions for 638 yards this season, both stats second on the team only behind tight end Travis Kelce.
Worthy told reporters on Wednesday that his focus all season was on growth.
"I feel like I've been growing each and every week learning new things, whether that's on the field, off the field, just becoming a better man and a better player," he said.
That growth came under Reid's watchful eye. The coach called Worthy a good listener who soaked in as much football knowledge as possible from veteran teammates like Kelce and wide receiver Hollywood Brown.
"He's a poised kid. And he does it with a smile on his face. Every day he comes out and, and works hard, wants to get better," Reid said.
"He's willing to listen, which I think is important when when teammates are talking and these guys that have a little experience are talking to him, he's taking it all in. So that's not always the case with players."
Worthy's regular season success has carried over into the postseason, leading the team in receptions and targets.
When asked if he foresaw a Super Bowl return for a possible threat-peat for the Chiefs, Worthy was confident in their chances.
"I'm not gonna lie. As soon as I got drafted, I expected nothing less than coming to the Super Bowl so this wasn't a surprise to me," Worthy said.
