MANILA -- Filipina tennis star Alex Eala is through to the second round of the 2025 Mumbai Open after a victory over Japan's Sara Saito on Monday.
Eala swept Saito, who is ranked No. 177 by the WTA, 6-1, 6-0.
It was a comfortable victory for Eala, who recently rose to No. 134 in the WTA rankings.
In the second round of the WTA 125k tournament, Eala will face off against either No. 6 seed Nao Hibino of Japan or her compatriot, Mai Hontama.
