Filipino tennis star Alex Eala starts her 2025 with a big win as she advances to the Canberra International women's singles quarterfinals in Australia.
The 19-year-old triumphed against Arianne Hartono (6-3, 6-3) earlier today.
Eala started the tournament ranked #147 WTA, while Hartono is ranked no. 165.
Eala hurdled two matches in the qualies to make it to the main draw.

She’s now off to the quarterfinals that will happen tomorrow versus Taylah Preston of Australia ranked WTA no. 170.
After Canberra, Eala will start her bid to qualify for the Australia Open which qualies begins January 6.
