Novak Djokovic and Nick Kyrgios arrived in Brisbane on Saturday (December 28) ahead of their highly-anticipated doubles debut at the Brisbane International.

The 24-times Grand Slam champion Djokovic and the former world number 13 Kyrgios are teaming up at the ATP 250 tournament ahead of the Australian Open.

"We texted about it and we spoke earlier in Wimbledon about playing together when he's back on tour so we get the first chance right away in the first week of the season, so it should be fun," Djokovic told reporters.

Australian Kyrgios has struggled with injuries over the past two years, with his last appearance on the ATP Tour coming in June 2023.

Djokovic is playing in his first tournament since losing the final of the Shanghai Masters to Jannik Sinner in October.

The pair will come up against Germany's Andreas Mies and Austria's Alexander Erler in the opening round.

In the singles, Djokovic has been drawn with local wildcard Rinky Hijikata, while Kyrgios will face a tricky test against big-serving Frenchman Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard.
