UAAP MediaMANILA -- Adamson University slammed the door on De La Salle University's Final 4 aspirations in the UAAP Season 87 men's football tournament with a 2-1 victory on Thursday at the UP Diliman Football Stadium.
The Soaring Falcons' win means that University of Santo Tomas has completed the Final 4 cast, joining Ateneo de Manila University, Far Eastern University, and University of the Philippines.
The substitutes delivered late for Adamson, as Christian Hayahay struck in the 73rd-minute equalizer while Keivenn Banagodos produced the stoppage time winner, with both goals coming off corners.
Alonso Aguilar scored in the 25th minute for the Green Booters, who entered the match needing to sweep their last two matches to advance.
It was only the Falcons' second win of the season.
"Pretty intense game coming back from one down. Good fighting spirit from both teams La Salle really wants it as well. We just happen to get the goals, it's crazy. It’s always by players, their effort of not giving up," said coach Darlton Digha, who is a former Adamson standout.
The Green Booters remained at 10 points in fifth spot, behind the Golden Booters' 14.
The Falcons will try to end their season on a winning note on Sunday against the University of the East.
De La Salle takes on holders University of the Philippines on Sunday.
