Amid the changing weather conditions, the Philippines dominated Nepal to close off the Billie Jean King Cup 2024 Group Stage in Bahrain.
Marian Capadocia won her first match playing solid tennis to defeat the number two player of Nepal, Sunira Thapa. 6-0;6-0
Despite the lopsided result, Capadocia acknowledged the power in her opponent but remained focused.
Match 2 saw Alex Eala deliver a dominant performance, also winning 6-0, 6-0 against Nepal team's top player Abhilasha Bista.
Eala, who had warmed up three times before her match, said that the challenges today were "nothing out of the ordinary. Sanay na and I’m happy with the results.”
"I think it's important to stay in the present. Kahit na gano'n 'yung score [...] just think about the next one," Eala said.
The Philippines is now on top of Group B and will gear up to face Group C's number one team. A win will elevate the national team to Group II in the Billie Jean King Cup in 2025.
