MANILA -- Phoenix weathered a superb effort from Blackwater import Kentrell Barkley to come away with a 102-93 win on Tuesday, regaining their winning ways in the PBA Season 50 Governors' Cup.
After leading by just one point, 54-53, at the break, the Fuel Masters steadily pulled away in the second half with Jason Perkins and Robert Johnson III leading the way.
A transition bucket by Gian Mamuyac gave Phoenix its biggest lead, 94-83, with five minutes left and the Bossing could not make up the difference.
Squandered in the loss was a 36-point, 25-rebound outing from Barkley.
Perkins had 25 points and six rebounds while Johnson added 23 points and 12 boards for the Fuel Masters. Mamuyac, in his second game, added 18 points.
Phoenix improved to 4-1 in Group B, bouncing back from a loss to Rain or Shine in their previous game.
This was Blackwater's third straight loss, dropping them to 2-3.
