MANILA -- Meralco averted an upset against Macau on Saturday night, taking a 115-110 win at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium behind CJ Cansino's crunch time heroics at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.
Cansino scored the go-ahead layup for a 111-109 lead with 1:57 to play, then grabbed the offensive rebound that led to Marvin Jones' insurance basket with 45.4 seconds to go for a 113-110 advantage.
He came up big on the defensive end as well, blocking a three-point attempt by Macau's Phoenix Shackelford with just over 30 seconds left.
That eventually led to Jansen Rios' dagger, a layup that pegged the final score in the last ten seconds.
The result kept Macau winless in the PBA Season 50 Commissioner's Cup, while Meralco extended its winning streak to three games.
The Bolts now have a 5-1 win-loss record, good for second place behind unbeaten Rain or Shine.
Jones finished with a huge 32-point, 14-rebound outing for Meralco, while Cansino added 23 points, seven rebounds, two steals, and two blocks.
Shackelford had 29 points and Jenning Leung had 29 and 21 points, respectively, but the Black Knights, who are competing as a guest team, dropped to a woeful 0-6.
