MANILA — Quentin Millora-Brown is headed to Manila to join Gilas Pilipinas for the second window of the FIBA World Cup Asian Qualifiers, according to the Samahang Basketball ng Pilipinas (SBP) on Thursday morning.
This was the development after the Chiba Jets big man was reportedly ruled out for the FIBA qualifying games on February 26 and March 1 due to an alleged contract dispute.
SBP said they talked directly to the former UP center and his family regarding his inclusion in Gilas for the upcoming FIBA window.
"After direct conversations with Quentin Milllora-Brown and his family, the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas announces that he is en route to Manila from Japan," SBP said in a statement.
According to the sporting body, Millora-Brown is "ready" to boost Gilas Men, as it needs a towering presence in the paint with Kai Sotto expected to sit out this window due to injury.
"The SBP appreciates his continued commitment to the program. He’s ready to suit up for Gilas and is going to be an integral part of the current and future of the national team," said the SBP.
Millora-Brown joins nine-time PBA MVP June Mar Fajardo and AJ Edu in holding the fort as Gilas seeks wins against heavyweights and taller teams, Australia and New Zealand.
