For the 12th time in his career, the 6-foot-10 Cebuano has been hailed as the BPC, and this was after he led the Beermen back to the Finals stage following an unceremonious exit in the Commissioner’s Cup in the previous conference.
Fajardo, also a league record-holder for the number of Most Valuable Player (MVP) plums won with eight, tallied 16.0 points, 13.9 rebounds, 3.2 assists, 1.1 blocks, and 0.6 steals from the eliminations until the semifinals to lead San Miguel Beer.
He is also averaging 25.3 markers, 11.7 boards, 2.0 dimes, 1.3 steals, and 1.0 block in three Finals games so far as the Beermen look to build a 3-1 vs. the Grand Slam-seeking TNT Tropang 5G in Game 4.
Fajardo was monstrous in their Game 3 victory last Friday at the Araneta Coliseum, putting up a 33-point, 11-rebound outing on top of three assists and one each in the blocks and steals department.
In addition, this was the second BPC award for Fajardo in Season 49. Despite missing the Finals in the season-opening Governors’ Cup, he won the award in that conference, while NorthPort Batang Pier’s Arvin Tolentino earned the plum in the Comms’ Cup.
By winning two of the three Season 49 BPCs, Fajardo is also in prime position to be crowned for his 9th MVP award at the annual Leo Awards in Season 50.
