Dwight Ramos 'in good shape,' upbeat for Gilas' campaign in FIBA Asia Cup

MANILA, Philippines – Dwight Ramos assured that he is in "good shape," even "better shape than I was in World Cup" as Gilas Pilipinas ramps up its preparations for the 2025 FIBA Asia Cup.

Ramos, in an interview with reporters at Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas and adidas' event on Thursday in Makati, where the national basketball teams' kits were revealed, said he has been constantly training and keeping himself in condition despite Japan B.League ending months ago.

"I'm in pretty good shape. I went to the [United] States and it's a lot easier to train there. You can go 2-3 times a day, workout, to the gym," Ramos expressed.

"I'm in good shape and probably in better shape than I was in the World Cup. So I'll be alright," he went on.

Ramos is in Manila for Gilas' practices every Monday which will conclude with a send-off at the Araneta Coliseum, facing Macau Black Bears.

The Levanga Hokkaido skipper also expressed excitement in reuniting with Gilas star Justin Brownlee in the national team.

"I'm always excited to play with Justin. Justin plays some of the best basketball I've seen," he said.

"Makes all the right plays, big time shots, big time player. I'm always excited to see Justin. I'm on the court with him but a lot of times I'm just watching his greatness," he added.

Gilas, as revealed by head mentor coach Tim Cone, will also take on the Jordan national team.

The Philippines is grouped with Chinese Taipei, New Zealand, and Iraq in Group D at the Asia Cup.
