MANILA, Philippines – At age 38, Jayson Castro still has what it takes to steer TNT to another PBA championship.

Castro led the Tropang Giga to their 10th franchise title, clinching back-to-back Governors' Cup crowns at the expense of Barangay Ginebra, 95-85, on Friday at the Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.

The veteran point guard averaged 10.3 points, 3.0 rebounds and 5.1 assists per game in the best-of-seven series where they emerged victorious in six games.

But for Castro, the individual plum it was more of a team effort than a reflection of his performance.

"'Yung MVP na 'yon, para sa 'kin, hindi ako 'yon, kung hindi 'yung buong team," Castro told reporters after Game 6.

"Kung makikita niyo naman sa Best Player of the Conference [race], wala sa aming candidate kasi we play as a team. Kung sino 'yung swerte, susuportahan namin," he also said.

But before the interview with Castro, head coach Chot Reyes predicted it right--that he would deflect credit and defer the achievement to his teammates.

"He [Jayson Castro] will be the first to tell you that he wouldn't have gotten it [Finals MVP award] without the effort and help of his teammates," said Reyes.

"Gano'n namang tao si Jayson, he's very lowkey but you can really--maaasahan mo talaga, you can trust that he'll make the right decisions come crunch time," Reyes went on about Castro.

Castro contributed 13 points and six assists, next to top-scorer and Best Import awardee Rondae Hollis-Jefferson who dropped 31 points.

This was The Blur's third Finals MVP award after clinching it during the 2010-11 Philippine Cup and 2011 Commissioner's Cup alongside Jimmy Alapag.
