Palestinians continued to search for survivors in Nuseirat camp on Saturday (December 7) a day after an Israeli strike killed 20 Palestinians, according to the official Palestinian news agency WAFA.
Residents said multiple buildings collapsed and rescue services were still pulling out bodies from under the rubble.
The news agency WAFA said at least 6 children and 5 women were among the dead and medics said 30 people were wounded.
They added that Israeli military strikes across the enclave killed at least 53 Palestinians, most of them in northern Gaza on Friday.
The Israeli military did not immediately comment on the strike. The military says that it targets only militants and that Hamas fighters regularly embed among civilians.
The military says it has killed hundreds of Hamas militants in Gaza as it fights to stop the faction regrouping almost 14 months since the war in Gaza started. Hamas's armed wing says it has killed many Israeli forces in anti-tank rocket and mortar fire attacks, and in ambushes with explosive devices since the new operation started.
At least 44,664 Palestinians have been killed and 105,976 wounded in Israel's military offensive on Gaza since Oct. 7 2023, Gaza's health ministry said on Saturday. - report from Reuters
