The House of Representatives approved on Wednesday a proposed measures seeking to include direct purchase and unsolicited proposals as modes of land acquisition for socialized housing programs.
During plenary session on Wednesday, the lower chamber passed on third and final reading House Bill 9697, with 205 affirmative votes, 3 negative votes and no abstention.
The measure amends Republic Act 7279 to institutionalize incentivized compliance to the balanced housing program and hasten the delivery of housing units to intended beneficiaries by simplifying local government requirements.

The House of Representatives also approved on third and final reading House Bill 7613 declaring the 4th Thursday of November every year as “National Thanksgiving Day”, House Bill 9584 providing for the Revised Cooperative Code of the Philippines, and House Bill 9599 granting Philippine citizenship to Andres Miguel Soriano IV.

The lower chamber, meanwhile, adopted separate House Resolutions expressing profound condolences to the family of former Zamboanga del Norte 1st District Rep. Romeo Jalosjos Sr. who served in the 10th, 11th, and 12th Congress, and the family of former Camarines Sur 2nd District Rep. Leopoldo San Buenaventura, who served in the 10th Congress.

The House, meanwhile, elected FPJ Panday Bayanihan Party List Rep. Brian Poe as Vice Chairperson of the House Committee on Ways and Means, and Santa Rosa City Rep. Roy Gonzales as Vice Chairperson of the House Special Committee on Globalization and WTO.
