Political analyst Froilan Calilung talks about the ongoing September 21 protests, saying corruption has reached a tipping point in the Philippines.

“When we talk about systemic corruption, people can only take as much. The reality is in political systems, there is always corruption and to totally eradicate it is clearly somewhat impossible. Pero meron kasi tayong tinatawag na tipping point, na talagang hanggang doon na lang. Kapag sumobra na, kailangan na ng malawakang pagkilos na. Ito ‘yung pinapakita natin dito,” he said in a DZMM interview.

Calilung said the destruction of flood control projects during habagat season and the ostentatious display of wealth and affluence of both politicians and contractors’ kin who benefited from the corruption have ignited the fury of many Filipinos.

“Lalong nagpasidhi sa galit ng tao…Palala ng palala ang nangyayari,” he said.
